And the name is...............

Luke Hoang Quan Keeping Brown

We considered many names but Norah refused to let us name him anything else and those who know Norah know that you don’t want to get into an argument with her. As we did with Norah’s name, we looked up the meanings of Luke and chose the one we liked best. Here’s the scoop:

Gender: Male
Ethnic Origin: Latin or Greek
Meaning: Light/Bringer of light (Latin)
Numerology: People with this name tend to be very logical thinkers. It is very important for them to have a rigid routine. Many of their actions are quite calculated and thought out. Professionally, they can be successful as an Administrator, team player, or small business owner.

As for his Vietnamese names:
Hoang: Phoenix
Quan: Soldier

So, he’s a phoenix soldier who brings light. We will especially appreciate the logical thinking part. The rigid schedule part – well, let’s hope he’ll continue smiling though life with non rigid schedule parents!

Another interesting coincidence: when I looked back at the entry with Norah’s name, one of the meanings of Norah we found was light. How fitting since she’s been the light of our lives since we met her. And we expect it will only get better with more light in our lives!

Introducing Le Hoang Quan

These are the first pictures we received of our new son. Isn't he totally adorable? And so cool that he's already very in touch with his feminine side. We think his shirt says Angel, which we assume is descriptive of his personality based on these pictures. This prompted our friend Rick to suggest we name him Angelo. Um...thanks, but no. No offense to all the Angelos out there! The name has been a dilemma for us though. We'll keep people in suspense on that front until the next post.

THE CALL: We received the call telling us that we had a son totally unexpectedly from our agency on Dec. 4. What was even better was that my Mom was visiting us, so she got to share in our excitement and see his pictures with us.

THE INFO: He's living in Vung Tau III orphanage, which is in the province of Ba ria-Vung Tau. This is in southern Vietnam. These pictures were taken when he was about 5 months old. Here’s some of the info we got on our baby at his medical exam at 5 months old:

“Weight- 7.6Kg (60%), Height- 66.5cm (55%), Head circum= 43.5cm (60%).” As our doctor said, he’s a very well-proportioned boy!

Oh, and for all those jokesters out there making fun of his pink shirt: “Genitalia –male. Normal.” Enough said.

“Makes good eye contact, follows objects to all directions, responds to sounds, smiles, coos, babbles, reaches for toys, passes toys from hand to hand, uses grasp, rolls over, pulls to sit.”

And now the really interesting part – his birthday is June 19 – the day after Norah’s. Even weirder, we left to go to China 3 years ago on March 8 and we leave for Vietnam on March 7. So, when we meet our son he will be almost exactly the same age as Norah was when we met her.
